Trisomy 18

Trisomy 18, also known as Edwards Syndrome, is a genetic condition in which cells have an extra #18 chromosome. In Everly's case, she had this extra chromosome on every cell in her body thus having Full Trisomy 18. This condition has been labeled by the medical community as being "incompatible with life." About 50% of babies do not survive through birth and less than 10% survive to their first birthday. Trisomy 18 presents itself differently in all babies: most have central and/or obstructive apnea, heart defects, feeding difficulties and joint contractures among other things. Babies with Trisomy 18 also have severe neurological delays. Let's spread the word that Trisomy 18 IS compatible with life!
